With summer around the corner, we were so excited to see this styled shoot featured on Wedding Chicks earlier this week! This past year, we jumped on the opportunity to work with Fête Weddings and Adam Barnes Photography (among other talented vendors) on a colorful summer styled shoot. The shoot was held at The Market at Grelen, a beautiful wedding venue in Somerset, Virginia.

We love collaborating with vendors on styled shoots. It gives the opportunity to experiment and to try something new! The overall concept for the shoot was inspired by the garden-like landscape of the venue (think rolling hills, bright florals, peach orchards, a greenhouse) and a stunning hand painted wedding gown by Kate McDonald Bridal. From here, we took this inspiration and began sketching!

Once we saw the McLeod gown from Kate McDonald Bridal (it was love at first sight), we knew we had to incorporate organic brush-like strokes into the stationery elements. We pulled out the acrylic paints and paper pad, starting mixing colors and from there the experimentation began. The final invitation card includes one of these experiments, an abstract brush-stroke pattern.

On top of the colorful pattern, we incorporated a vellum topper (containing the wording/content). The vellum was inspired by the greenhouse structure. This added a nice modern touch to the suite. For typography, we incorporated a whimsical hand painted font mixed with a modern sans-serif font.

The secondary elements of the suite (details card, rsvp card, envelopes) mimic design elements of invitation card. We pulled the bright teal color into the envelopes (for a fun pop of color!). To complete the suite, Type Delight added modern calligraphy on the envelopes.

A big thanks to the talented vendors that brought this style shoot together!
